SPEEED is a 12-week, biomechanics-led speed-development program for serious hockey players.
Led by Dr. Ethan Wilkie, SPEEED combines advanced skating-treadmill training, explosive dryland development, individual technical correction, and objective performance testing.
Athletes in our most recent training rounds achieved average performance gains ranging from 6% to 17% across maximum skating velocity, 10-metre sprint performance, and 5-10-5 agility.

More Than a Speed Class
Many speed programs ask athletes to work harder. SPEEED identifies how each athlete moves, what is limiting their speed, and what must change to improve it.
Athletes receive individual correction focused on:
First-step quickness and acceleration
Maximum skating velocity
Skating posture and stride mechanics
Stride power, cadence, and efficiency
Lateral and multidirectional movement
Deceleration and re-acceleration
Agility, reaction, and body control
This is not a generic conditioning class or a collection of random drills. Every session is part of a structured progression designed to make the athlete more explosive, efficient, and faster on the ice.
Who Is SPEEED For?
SPEEED is for M11, M13, M15, and M18 hockey players who are serious about becoming faster.
It is particularly valuable for athletes who need a quicker first step, greater stride power, better skating efficiency, improved agility, or more top-end speed.
Athletes must be prepared to train consistently, receive detailed technical feedback, and remain with their registered group for the full program.
Measurable Development
SPEEED begins with baseline testing and concludes with final retesting.
The program measures three important components of hockey speed:
Maximum skating velocity: Top-end skating speed
10-metre sprint: Acceleration and first-step performance
5-10-5 agility: Deceleration, change of direction, and re-acceleration
The final results are compared against the athlete’s starting point, providing objective evidence of improvement and identifying priorities for continued development.
Built on Biomechanics
SPEEED is developed and led by Dr. Ethan Wilkie, who holds a PhD in Biomechanics and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology. His background includes work with Bauer Hockey and the McGill Hockey Research Lab.
Dr. Wilkie uses movement science to evaluate how each athlete produces speed. Training is then adjusted based on the athlete’s mechanics, physical development, movement patterns, and performance data.
This level of hockey-specific biomechanical coaching is normally reserved for elite and professional performance environments. SPEEED brings that approach to developing athletes in Montreal.

Monday Program
September 21 to December 14
M11: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
M13: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
M15: 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
M18: 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Tuesday Program
September 22 to December 15
M11: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
M13: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
M15: 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
M18: 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.
There are no sessions during Thanksgiving week on Monday, October 12, or Tuesday, October 13.
Registration and Attendance Policy
Registration is for one specific day, age group, and time.
Athletes must remain with their original cohort throughout the program. Sessions cannot be mixed or matched between Monday and Tuesday groups.
Because the program follows a structured weekly progression and groups are capped at four athletes, there are no makeup sessions for missed sessions for any reason.
